NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The protester who climbed the Statue of Liberty last year will go before a federal judge in Manhattan Friday to see if she’ll be allowed to remain free on bail.
Therese Okoumou climbed the base of the monument last July 4.

Okoumou was found guilty of misdemeanor charges in December 2018 stemming from her protest climb, and is set to be sentenced on March 19.
Last week, she was arrested in Texas for climbing a building and hanging a banner that said, “Abolish ICE.”
Prosecutors asked the federal judge Gabriel Gorenstein to revoke bail due to her recent Texas arrest.
On Wednesday, Gorenstein, with Okoumou, visited the statue to better assess the risks her stunt posed.
On Instragram this week, Okoumou appealed to her supporters to attend the bail hearing.
“The Justice Department is going hard after me. They want me in jail,” Okoumou said in a video on the social media platform.
