NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that starting March 19, CUNY and SUNY schools will establish "distance learning" after a student tested positive for coronavirus.

John Jay College closed on Wednesday learning a student tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday, according to CUNY officials.

According to the CUNY twitter page, the student who tested positive had "not been back to the campus since becoming symptomatic over the weekend."

Health officials said the infection posed no threat to the school community, but the school will be closed "out of an abundance of caution."
