
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Fordham University student was critically injured after falling from the school’s bell tower early Sunday, police say.
The 22-year-old woman was among a group of seniors who tried to climb the clock tower at Keating Hall around 3 a.m. to get a view of the city, according to police.
The senior plummeted about 40 feet after falling through an opening in a stairwell landing., police say.
She was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.
At this point, police say it appears to be a tragic accident.
Students are forbidden to climb the clock tower, but some know of a way to access it.
"You have to know the secret way," one sophomore said.
Fordham University officials would not comment on the incident.
