Subway riders face mini L-pocalypse this week

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – All was well on the L train Monday morning, but come nighttime, hell was awaiting commuters looking to travel between Brooklyn and Manhattan.

The L line is set to undergo a slew of service disruptions this week, with trains not running between Eighth Avenue in Manhattan and the Broadway Junction station in Brooklyn between 10:45 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Shuttles and extra bus service will begin rolling out Monday night to help riders get around.

Asked what he’d do without the L, rider Preston told 1010 WINS’ John Montone: “I don’t know, bro. I haven’t the slightest clue.”

George was also clueless about how he’d get around without the L: “Just try and figure out another way home,” he said. “Try and circumnavigate around the city.”

The week-long service disruption comes as the MTA prepares for a partial shutdown of the L line starting in the spring.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo introduced the plan to avoid a total shutdown of the line, with trains running less frequently and some night and weekend closures in the forecast.
