NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- During his daily briefing on Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo warned residents about the ongoing problems the state is facing with young people, bars and restaurants.
Over the weekend, the SLA and NYS Police task force visited over 3,000 locations statewide and violations were issued to 106 establishments, Cuomo said.
On Sunday, 874 locations were observed and 29 violations were issued statewide.
"None of us are safe until all of us are safe," Cuomo said.
He said local government needs to do a better job at enforcing the national spread quarantine and the lack of compliance.
He used the large gathering under the Kosciusko Bridge and a crowded party boat that was spotted near a Manhattan pier over the weekend as examples.
The huge parties whether on land or boat are both illegal and disrespectful and violate common decency, according to Cuomo.
Cuomo also said the progress rate is better than expected given New York is in the middle of reopening, which began in the state on May 15 and reported new lows for patient hospitalizations, intubations, ICU patients as well as deaths.
Of the 51,839 tests reported Sunday, 545 were positive. Total hospitalizations fell to 536. There were three COVID fatalities on Sunday.
He also said the state is set to make a decision later in the week on reopening schools.
