WATCH: Thief with box cutter steals $2K in merchandise from Manhattan Coach store

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A thief threatened an employee at a Manhattan Coach store with a box cutter before stealing $2,000 worth of merchandise from the shop, video released by the NYPD Monday night shows.

The male thief walked into the Coach store on Fifth Avenue, near West 54th Street, around 6 p.m. on Aug. 1 and started removing purses and other items from the store’s displays, police said. 

When a 31-year-old employee tried to stop the thief, he flashed a box cutter at her before fleeing the store with the merchandise, the NYPD said. 

He made off with approximately $2,000 worth of desinger goods, according to police.
