NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An upstate New York man and his girlfriend were fatally shot while quarantining in Mexico, according to reports.
Baldwinsville resident Pat Landers, 32, and his girlfriend Karla Baca died after an unknown number of suspects fired at a jeep they were driving in South Juarez on Monday, The Post-Standard reported, citing a report from El Paso-based NBC affiliate KTSM.
Baca worked as a physical education teacher in Juarez, and she and Landers had been quarantining there, according to the Post-Standard.
No one has been arrested in connection with their deaths. The suspects "fired at least 20 gunshots" at their jeep, KTSM reported.
Friends of Landers told the Post-Standard he and Baca met in Texas and had been dating for several months, and had been together in Mexico for a few weeks.
The outlet described Landers as an "avid golfer" and said he had a son.
