NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Whoopi Goldberg complained to Mayor Bill de Blasio last week on The View about all of the bike lanes and pedestrian crossings he's been installing.

On Tuesday, the families of local traffic victims tried to educate her with a demonstration outside of ABC studios on the Upper West Side.
Maria, who was waiting to see the show in person, said why not have a discussion about traffic safety on national TV?
"That's what The View is for, to give their view right?" she said.
Even after an apology from Whoopi Goldberg, Families for Safe Streets feel they need to educate her and others on why pedestrian plazas and bike lanes are not just an inconvenience.
Amy Cohen lost her son Sammy 5 years ago when he was just 12, to a speeding driver.
"I'm sorry Whoopi, if they had been there my son would still be alive," she said.
Goldberg addressed the controversy on The View, Tuesday morning.
"I guess people thought I was saying that bike lanes are bad. I was not, I was saying I think we can do a better job putting them in the city and keeping everybody safe, the bikers, the drivers, everybody," she said.
Families for Safe Streets said traffic violence is a 'preventable public health crisis.'
