RICHMOND, Va. (1010 WINS) -- Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and his wife Pamela Northam have tested positive for coronavirus, his office announced Friday.
The governor is not experiencing symptoms, while his wife currently has "mild symptoms," the governor's office said.
Both the governor and first lady were tested for coronavirus on Thursday and tested positive.
"On Wednesday evening, @FirstLadyVA and I were notified that a member of our official residence staff had developed symptoms and tested positive for #COVID19. We both received PCR nasal swab tests yesterday and both tested positive," Northam. tweeted.
Both will isolate over the next 10 days and the governor will continue working from home.
"As I've been reminding Virginians throughout this crisis, COVID-19 is very real and very contagious," Northam said.
