NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A high wind warning is in effect for the city and surrounding areas Monday, with gusts of up to 65 mph in the forecast.
The National Weather Service issued the high wind warning for most of the Tri-State, including all five New York City boroughs, Long Island, Westchester, Rockland, northeastern New Jersey and southern Connecticut.
The high wind warning is in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday for most of our area and until 8 p.m. for parts of Connecticut and Long Island.
Heavy rain, strong thunderstorms and damaging winds are expected throughout the day. Wind gusts could reach over 65 mph along the coasts.
The rain arrives early Monday morning before the stormy weather moves out later Monday night.
AccuWeather says the most severe weather will be in the late morning and afternoon, including a chance of hail and an isolated tornado.
Highs will reach the mid-to-upper 60s in the city Monday before dropping to the mid-40s overnight into Tuesday.
