Trump to lead first coronavirus task force briefing since April 27 – but will Fauci, Birx be there?

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The White House coronavirus task force will make its return Tuesday afternoon -- the 5 p.m. briefing will be the first President Trump has led since April 27 -- but the looming question is will task force members Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx be in attendance?

"You'll have to tune in to see," White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told a reporter at a briefing Tuesday, when he asked if Fauci and Birx will be there.

But as of Monday, Fauci said he was unaware of the task force briefing.

"I mean, I have not gotten official word of when the next one was," he told Maria Shriver on NBC's Instagram Live. "I was down at the White House just this afternoon. If they start the briefings, I would imagine I'm going to be part of it, at least some of them."

Trump and Fauci have been trading barbs in the media lately, so tongues are wagging with anticipation to see if he does make an appearance.

But CNN reported on Tuesday morning that no task force members were currently expected to join Trump at the briefing, but cautioned that could change, citing sources.

The coronavirus task force, led by Vice President Mike Pence, disappeared in late April after ratings began to slide and Trump mused about the possibility of using disinfectants inside the body to kill the virus.
