NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police arrested and charged a 20-year-old Brooklyn woman on Tuesday in the fatal Monday night stabbing of 30-year-old woman in a subway station in Brownsville in Brooklyn Monday night, authorities say.
Mia Simmons was charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon in the death of Latanya Watson. Officials said the two got into some sort of argument and it turned violent, leaving Watson stabbed in the face, neck and arm.
Watson was taken into custody after following a "trail of blood" to an apartment near the scene, officials said.
One of them grabbed a container of pepper spray, and in response, the 20-year-old suspect pulled a small knife and stabbed her in the neck, face and arm.
Watson was taken to Brookdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Watson worked until recently, sources told 1010 WINS, at a grocery store in Red Hook.
Her fiance told Channel 4 she had a 12-year-old child.
