NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Officials are searching for a man in connection to an attempted robbery and assault with what appears to be a hammer in Brooklyn on Tuesday morning.
At approximately 7 a.m., a 38-year-old woman was walking in front of 186 Wilson Street in Bushwick, when police say she was approached from behind by the suspect.
Authorities say he shoved the victim to the ground and attempted to remove her purse, repeatedly telling her, "Give me the money!"
When the woman refused, the suspect struck her multiple times in the face, causing lacerations and bruising to her facial area.
The suspect fled the area on foot, along Wilson Avenue toward Lee Avenue, police say.
The victim was treated and released for her injuries at Woodhull Hospital.
