NEW YORK (1010WINS) -- A 51-year-old woman was robbed in her East Village apartment in Manhattan by two men wearing New York City Housing Authority uniforms, police say.The incident happened at the Lillian Wald Houses on FDR Drive on Wednesday afternoon.Police say that a man wearing a NYCHA uniform knocked on the victim's door and said he needed to check the gas in her apartment.After checking her stove, the suspect asked to use the bathroom.
He emerged from the bathroom armed holding a gun and taped up the woman's hands and feet, police say.The man then let a second suspect also wearing a NYCHA uniform into the apartment, and they stole $2,500.No arrests have been made and the incident remains under investigation.
