NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man disturbing customers in a Staten Island supermarket attacked two NYPD officers in an altercation Tuesday night, police said.

The two officers were responding to a call at around 8:55 p.m. about an "emotionally distressed individual" at the Key Food located at 244 Arden Ave., in Arden Heights, police said.

When the cops arrived, they saw a man, Christopher Davis, 36, acting "erratically" and asked him to take his hands out of his pockets.

Davis then bit one of the officers on the leg and punched another in the face, according to police.

Officers then tased Davis and took him into custody.

Both cops were taken to Staten Island University Hospital in stable condition.

David was later taken to a local hospital.

He was charged with assault, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration and disorderly conduct.
