13-year-old faces charges for slashing girl during fight at NJ middle school

PLEASANTVILLE, NJ (1010 WINS)— A fight at a Pleasantville middle school on Thursday left one student slashed in the face and another one facing criminal charges, police said Tuesday.

The fight broke out between the two girls, both 13, around 2:45 p.m. at Middle School of Pleasantville. Police said one of the teens slashed the other in the cheek with a knife.

School staff separated the girls before officers arrived. The knife-wielding 13-year-old was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon on Thursday and placed on home detention, police said.

Her name was not released because of her age.

The cause of the fight is still unknown, Pleasantville police told NJ.com.
