2 caught with 14,000 fentanyl pills on NJ interstate, prosecutors say

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man and woman from Pennsylvania were charged after being pulled over on a New Jersey interstate while transporting 14,000 suspected fentanyl pills, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

Edgar Holguin-Reyes, 30, and Yakayra Reyes, 27, are charged with possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl pills after officials caught them with the suspected drugs on Sunday evening.

At about 6:35 p.m., detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force spotted a vehicle that was involved with transporting and distributing drugs.

With assistance from local police, the vehicle was pulled over on I-287 in Mahwah. A court-authorized search yielded the pills, which have an estimated street value of about $420,000, officials said.

Holguin-Reyes and Reyes were are charged with second-degree possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl-laced pills.
