MOUNT OLIVE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 13-year-old and a 14-year-old were charged last week with posting a bomb threat against a New Jersey middle school om social media, authorities said Monday.
According to police, the threat was made on Oct. 25 to Mount Olive Middle School on social media. Officials quickly determined it not credible following an investigation.
Both teens were charged Friday with crime of cyber harassment for posting of the threat on social media. They were released to a parent or guardian.
Their names were not released due to their ages.
"The Mount Olive Police Department, in partnership with the Mount Olive School District, maintains zero tolerance for acts that threaten our schools," police Chief Michael Spitzer said in a statement. "We will vigorously investigate all such incidents and pursue appropriate legal action against those responsible."
