MANCHESTER, N.J. (1010 WINS) – Four Indiana men were charged with murder and conspiracy in connection to a man found dead last week in New Jersey, prosecutors announced on Sunday.

Sourav Kumar, 23, Gaurav Singh, 27, Nirmal Singh, 30, and Gurdeep Singh, 22, were all charged for the death of Kuldeep Kumar, 35, of India, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.

On Dec. 14, police were contacted after a man’s body was found in the Greenwood Wildlife Management Area in Manchester Township. The following day, the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office performed a post-mortem examination and found that the cause of the death was multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, and the manner of death to be homicide.

The FBI assisted in the investigation and the victim was identified as Kuldeep Kumar who had been reported missing by family members in Queens on Oct. 26.

Following an investigation, the four Indiana men had allegedly acted together and in support of one another in carrying out the murder of Kumar.

On Dec. 20, the four suspects were taken into custody without incident.  They were transported to Johnson County Jail in Franklin, Indiana, where they will remain lodged pending their extradition to New Jersey.

Officials did not clarify what the motive was or how the men were connected.

“The investigative efforts leading to the arrest of these defendants were nothing short of outstanding, and the teamwork exhibited by all the participating agencies truly exemplifies the best in law enforcement,” Billhimer said.
