MANCHESTER, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey woman died over the weekend after her car struck a tree, authorities said Sunday.
According to officials, after 9 p.m. on Saturday, Patricia Ford, 80, was driving a white 2018 Ford Ecosport south on Washington Lane suffered a medical episode.
Ford's car then sped up and ran the stop sign at the intersection with New Mexico Drive. Her car kept going and ran off the road, going over the curb and hitting a wooden fence and then a tree, Capt. James Komsa said.
The force of the impact caused the car to spin counterclockwise and hit three more trees, Komsa said.
She was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash and taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River where she died as a result of the crash.
