82-year-old NJ man arrested for distributing child pornography

BOONTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — An 82-year-old Boonton man was arrested for distributing images of videos of child sex abuse, the Department of Justice announced Wednesday.

Between May and September, William Harbeson allegedly used a peer-to-peer file sharing program to distribute the child pornography.

An undercover police officer used the service to obtain hundreds of images and videos that were traced back to Harbeson’s IP address.

Police raided his home and found at least  38 videos and 351 images of child sex abuse on his hard drive.

Prosecutors charged him with distributing child pornography.

He was released on a $100,000 bond after his bail hearing on Tuesday.

He faces up to 20 years in prison with a minimum of five years if convicted.
