NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is investigating after an Asian employee was attacked at a Manhattan food market Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. inside Sunrise Mart, a Japanese grocery located at 12 East 41st Street in Midtown, police said.
Authorities said the attacker was acting erratically then sucker-punched the female manager when she asked him to leave since he was not wearing a mask.
Shortly after the attack, officers arrested the suspect.
Police are not considering the incident a hate crime since there were no words exchanged.
