NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Former Gov. Chris Christie was still at a New Jersey hospital on Wednesday, four days after he announced he had COVID and was checking himself in there.

Christie remained at Morristown Medical Center and his condition "is not known," according to NJ.com, which reported that hospital officials declined to comment Tuesday.

The former governor tweeted Saturday: "In consultation with my doctors, I checked myself into Morristown Medical Center this afternoon. While I am feeling good and only have mild symptoms, due to my history of asthma we decided this is an important precautionary measure."

Christie, 58, hasn't tweeted or commented on his condition publicly since Saturday.

According to NJ.com, Christie spoke with Star-Ledger columnist Tom Moran in a 10-minute phone call on Monday, with Moran writing that Christie sounded "raspy but didn't cough once." He reportedly didn't want to talk about his condition.

Gov. Phil Murphy said in an interview Monday that he had "no insight" on Christie's condition after "private communications" with the former governor.

"He's in our prayers, and he knows we're here for him," Murphy said.

Christie is among an increasing number of President Donald Trump's associates who have tested positive for the virus over the past week. He was among a small group of people who helped the president prepare for last Tuesday's debate with Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
