NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Port Authority police officer who rushed to a man’s aid after he stopped breathing at Newark Airport revived the man with help from an unexpected source: TV’s Dr. Oz.

Port Authority Officer Jeffrey Croissant was patrolling Newark Airport’s Terminal A baggage claim around 11 p.m. on Monday when he saw a 60-year-old New Jersey man fall to the floor, the Port Authority said Tuesday.

Croissant called for backup and started performing CPR on the man, who had stopped breathing and didn’t have a pulse, the agency said. Not long after, Dr. Mehmet Oz, who hosts The Dr. Oz Show, rushed over to help.

Oz — who had just gotten off the same flight as the unconscious man — and Croissant performed CPR on the man until two other Port Authority officers arrived and used a defibrillator on the man, the Port Authority said.

After several additional CPR cycles, the man started to breath on his own, the agency said. He was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation, according to the agency.

In a statement, Croissant said he didn’t recognize Oz right away, as the celebrity doctor was wearing a mask.

"What better help to have than a cardiac surgeon?" he added.
