UNIONDALE, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A 68-year-old man was arrested for allegedly committing a hit-and-run on Tuesday night that left a 60-year-old man injured on Long Island, the Nassau County Police Department said.
Robert Hauswald, 68, of Hempstead was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an incident, police said.
At 7:25 p.m. on Tuesday evening, police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck near Front Street and Maple Street in Uniondale, officials said.
Officers discovered a man on the ground bleeding heavily from the right side of his face at the scene.
The 60-year-old victim suffered leg and head trauma and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, authorities said.
Police said that a witness reported seeing a gray 2001 Mercury with extensive windshield damage leaving the scene.
This aided the investigation in finding Hauswald, who was arrested without incident.
The defendant was issued an appearance ticket for court on Jan. 8.
