FARMINGVILLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A Long Island school district was forced to pull a survey that asked high school students about their sexual activity and other personal questions.

The Sachem Central School District scrapped the survey after outraged parents said they felt the questions were too explicit and inappropriate.

The questionnaire was sent to the school-issued Chromebooks of 10th graders as part of a health class at Sachem East High School in Farmingville.

The survey asked about students’ sexual preferences and how many partners they’ve had. Other personal questions included if students are happy about the way they look and if they’re trying to diet and lose weight.

In a statement the district’s superintendent, Christopher Pellettieri, said: “The survey is anonymous and optional and informs the district of areas in which they can assist their students with available resources for support as needed.”
