NEW JERSEY (1010 WINS) — Tuesday was a big day for Gov. Phil Murphy. Not only was he sworn in for his second term as New Jersey’s governor but he appeared as a clue on “Jeopardy!” the same day.

The contestants, which included champion Amy Schnieder, were stumped by the clue which read: "In 2021 he became the first Democrat re-elected Jersey's gov. since Brendan Byrne in 1977; Maybe an arena will be named for him."

Despite Schneider’s winning streak of answering more than 1,000 questions correctly, neither she nor any of her fellow players buzzed in to respond to the clue about Murphy.

Murphy tweeted the question on Wednesday morning and said “I’d like to buzz in.”

The New Jersey governor wasn’t the only recent gubernatorial clue to stump contestants. Last month, players had trouble responding to a clue that read "In 2021, she became the first female governor of New York State." The answer, of course, is Kathy Hochul.
