WESTWOOD, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Kmart has been a shell of its former retail self for several years at this point, having shut hundreds of stores -- and now, it is closing its sole New Jersey location, leaving only two stores left in the entire country.
The last department store in the state is located at 700 Broadway in Westwood and is set to close in September or October.
Previously, New Jersey had 11 stores before Sears Holdings, which operates Kmart, closed them over the last five years.
Sears filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2018.
There were over 2,000 Kmart stores open across the U.S. at the height of its retail supremacy.
Still need your Kmart fix? The remaining two locations are in Florida, and significantly closer, in Bridgehampton on Long Island.
