HEWLETT, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – A Long Island driver struck and killed a 74-year-old man and then dragged him to the side of a road before fleeing the scene, Nassau County police said Friday.
The victim, identified as Jeffrey Frank, was crossing Broadway near Everit Avenue in Hewlett just after 10 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV headed northbound on Broadway.
A man driving the SUV then got out, dragged Frank to the side of the road, re-entered the vehicle and fled the scene, a witness told police
Frank was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests had been reported Friday as the investigation continued.
