NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Long Island driving instructor was arrested for allegedly committing a “lewd act” during a lesson with a 16-year-old girl this week.

Jeffrey Hinch, 29, was arrested and charged with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child.

Suffolk County Police said a 16-year-old girl made a complaint about “a sexual act committed by the instructor.”

The teen told police that Hinch picked her up from her home in Huntington for a driving instruction course on Tuesday.

“During the instruction, the female observed Hinch commit a lewd act,” police said.

The girl was then returned to her home “without further incident,” police said.

Hinch was an instructor at the East Meadow Driving School in Levittown, according to police.

He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.

Police said the investigation is continuing. They asked anyone who believes they may be a victim to contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-8477 or call 911.
