The dispute broke out in front of Sayville Cinemas on Saturday around 9:40 p.m. between the suspect, 55-year-old Donald Ahlers Jr., and a female employee, police said.
Ahlers grabbed and squeezed the woman’s neck before a 16-year-old employee attempted to intervene. Ahlers then allegedly attacked the teen, punching him in the head and gouging his eye, according to officials.
After an investigation, Ahlers was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and charged with 3rd degree assault, obstruction of breathing and endangering the welfare of a child.
Ahlers was held overnight in jail and arraigned on Wednesday.
