MIDDLE ISLAND, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Long Island man was arrested Monday for allegedly committing a lewd act in front of a child in Suffolk County last month.
The incident happened inside a Smithtown store on Main Street around 1 p.m. on July 24.
According to police, the man was inside the store and made eye contact with a girl who was shopping with her parents. He then proceeded to commit an unspecified lewd act in front of the child.
The victim notified her parents of what was happening, and the man fled the store.
After a nearly month-long investigation, police caught up with the alleged perpetrator – 56-year-old Reynaldo Flores, of Middle Island – around 9:30 a.m. Monday.
He has been charged with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child. He will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Detectives are asking anyone who believes they could be a victim of Flores to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
