Police were called to the Merrick HomeGoods around 10:15 a.m. after a report of a baby left inside of a car alone, cops said.

A witness found the infant boy inside of the vehicle crying, coughing and red in the face with the windows closed. The witness was able to get the baby out of the unlocked car and waited for someone to return, according to police.

After waiting for someone to come back for some time, the witness called 911. Eventually a 34-year-old woman, Caroline Salorilo, came to the car and was arrested, officials said.

The baby was evaluated by EMS workers at the scene while a family member arrived to look after him.

Salorilo was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She was arraigned on Tuesday in Hempstead.
