NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – General Electric announced this week that it will put on a light show over the Hudson River in April featuring 1,000 drones.
The century-old company said the light show on April 1 is to celebrate its "transformation into three independent public companies" with the separation into GE Aerospace, GE Vernova and GE HealthCare on April 2.
The drones will be launched from the Weehawken Waterfront Park in Hoboken at 9 p.m. that night and be visible from the West Side of Manhattan.
GE, founded by Thomas Edison in New York 132 years ago, has evolved into a global company, acquiring the assets of the Edison General Electric Company and two other electrical companies in 1892.
