1 driver dead, another in custody after T-bone collision at Queens intersection

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A T-bone collision in Queens left one driver dead and another taken into custody at a major Queens intersection early Friday, officials said.

The fatal crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Union Turnpike and Parsons Boulevard in Hillcrest, police said.

According to authorities, a 22-year-old man driving a gray Mercedes Benz eastbound on Union Turnpike collided with a 52-year-old man driving southbound on Parsons Boulevard in a gray Toyota.

The 52-year victim was identified as Daniel Crawford of Bloomfield, New Jersey.

Crawford was rushed to Queens Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The other driver was taken into custody for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, officials said.

It was not immediately clear which driver ran the light and an investigation is ongoing.
