NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police launched an investigation after one man was killed and another critically injured in a multi-car collision that happened in Brooklyn Monday night.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., police responded to 911 calls of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Utica Avenue and Farragut Road in East Flatbush.

Upon arrival, officers observed the 24-year-old male driver and a 23-year-old male passenger, both with body trauma, inside a 2018 BMW 440i sedan.

EMS transported the driver to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County, in critical condition, and the passenger to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that the BMW was traveling northbound on Utica Avenue, in the designated bus lane, at a high rate of speed as it approached the intersection of Farragut Road.

A 2014 BMW X5 SUV, also occupied by two men, was traveling southbound on Utica Avenue and attempted to make a left turn onto Farragut Road when the sedan collided with the front driver's side of the SUV, and continued north before mounting the sidewalk on Utica Avenue.

The sedan then struck a light pole and simultaneously collided with the rear of a parked and unoccupied 2012 Mercedes Benz GLK 350 SUV.

The Benz then collided with vehicle a fourth vehicle -- a parked and unoccupied 2015 Honda CRV SUV which then struck a parked 2015 BMW M4 sedan, with a 35-year-old driver inside.

Police have not released the identity of the deceased and no arrests have been at this time.

An investigation remains ongoing.
