NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A briefcase with $100,000 in jewels was stolen from a man's car as he changed a tire near Times Square, police said Thursday as they released photos of three suspects.

The 55-year-old victim was swapping the tire outside of the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on W. 47th Street, just west of Broadway, on the afternoon of April 28 when a man struck up a conversation with him.

As the victim was distracted, a second man snuck up and snatched the suitcase from the backseat of the car, police said.

The three suspects, who are all believed to be in their 30s, fled in a taxi that was last seen near the Queensboro Bridge.

No injuries were reported in the theft.
