NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 12-year-old bystander was shot multiple times as she was caught in the crossfire of a suspected gang shootout in the Bronx on Monday evening, police said.
The girl suffered gunshot wounds to the torso and right foot. She was transported to Montefiore Hospital, where she was in surgery for several hours and in serious but stable condition.
The victim was shot around 8:30 p.m. by the Pearly Gates Playground on Tratman Avenue in Westchester Square, according to police. Two shooters opened fire, striking the girl and also hitting a number of parked cars.

Police said two males, possibly around 18 years old, were seen fleeing on foot.
One gun was recovered at the scene, where more than a half-dozen evidence markers were also on the ground.
Police scoured the area overnight as they searched for the two suspects.
"It’s unbelievable, very sad," said Luis, who's lived on the block for 32 years and came out of his home to crime scene tape.
