A group of 16 masked burglars targeted Inokim Electric Scooter Shop on Elizabeth Street in NoLita on July 12, clearing out the shop’s entire inventory.

In all, the group stole 82 scooters, along with an Apple iPad Pro and $6,700 in cash from a register, according to police. Each scooter is valued at $2,000 to $3,000.

Shop owner Max Beckman told WCBS-TV that the theft was clearly planned, with surveillance video showing the thieves walking in and out of his business for five hours.

“We counted about 16 individuals, 16 perps, who came in and came out with our scooters, two or three scooters at a time, and just went in some direction,” Beckman said.

The thieves gained entry to the shop by breaking a lockbox at the storefront and grabbing the key. Beckman heard they’re part of a ring that targets businesses with lockboxes.

The NYPD has arrested four of the 16 suspects on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property.
