NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — One man was killed and another was hospitalized in a stabbing in upper Manhattan late Thursday afternoon, the NYPD said.

It happened at 159-26 Harlem River Dr., a residential building part of NYCHA's Rangel Houses, in Washington Heights at 5:47 p.m.


Two men, 18 and 21, were stabbed and slashed in the torso, police said.

Both victims were transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem. The 18-year-old was pronounced dead, and the 21-year-old is stable, officials said.

According to police, witnesses described two individuals, one wearing a black hooded shirt and the other wearing a red hooded shirt, fleeing from the scene.

Neither the circumstances surrounding the stabbing nor the relationship between the victims was immediately known.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
