
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Two men from Connecticut were arrested after allegedly stealing a man’s car in Harlem while displaying machine guns on Friday, according to the NYPD.
Twenty-year-old Jose Rivera and 21-year-old Jomar Crespo were charged with robbery, grand larceny auto, unlawful possession of an ammo feed device and criminal possession of a machine gun, criminal possession of a loaded firearm and criminal possession of stolen property.
Rivera was hit with additional weapons charges, including manufacture of a machine gun, manufacture of rapid-fire modification and manufacture of dangerous instruments.
At about 11:30 p.m. on Friday, police said that a man was approached near West 146th Street and Bradhurst Avenue by the two suspects holding firearms. Rivera and Crespo are accused of demanding the victim’s keys and fleeing in his vehicle.
The victim, who ABC7 reported was an off-duty NYPD officer, was uninjured.
Police began canvassing the area for the suspects, and officers discovered the stolen vehicle unoccupied near the intersection of Broadway and West 138th Street.
Rivera and Crespo, who were found in possession of two loaded guns, were soon taken into custody.
According to police, Rivera and Crespo live together in Waterbury.
