NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two firefighters were injured while battling a blaze at an e-bike store in Brooklyn early Saturday morning, according to the FDNY.

The fire broke out at 11 Ave Bike Shop Inc. on 11th Avenue near 63rd Street in Dyker Heights around 2:17 a.m., officials said.

Sixty firefighters across 12 units got the fire under control by around 4:12 a.m., according to authorities.

The two firefighters who suffered minor injuries were brought to Lutheran Medical Center for treatment.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but e-bike batteries have been a leading cause of fires in recent years.

A 67-year-old woman was critically injured during a fire caused by an e-bike battery in Brooklyn earlier this week.

If the fire at the e-bike store was caused by one of the lithium ion batteries used to power the bikes, it will be the 25th fire caused by an e-bike battery in New York City this year.

“Another night, another disastrous fire caused by a faulty e-bike battery,” wrote City Councilmember Justin Brannan on Twitter. “This time just a few blocks outside my district on 11th Avenue. The NYC Council is taking action to end this insanity and keep New Yorkers safe.”
