NEW YORK (1010 WINS/ WCBS 880) -- Two people were seriously injured after scaffolding collapsed at a Brooklyn building Tuesday afternoon, FDNY officials confirmed.

Fire officials responded to 148 Stuyvesant Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant at about 1:54 p.m. for a reported scaffolding collapse.

The Department of Building inspectors determined that just above the fourth floor level of the suspended scaffolding, a 20-foot length of the building's parapet collapsed and struck two construction workers on the scaffold.

They suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County.

According to officials, sections of the scaffold were structurally compromised in the incident and the scaffold company will be contacted to make emergency repairs.

The NYPD has closed the sidewalk below the scaffolded building to pedestrians.

An investigation is ongoing.
