2 men hit with glass bottle, screwdriver in anti-gay attack in Brooklyn deli: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two men were robbed and hit with a glass bottle and screwdriver early Saturday Morning in Brooklyn in what the NYPD is calling an anti-gay attack.

The victims were attempting to buy food inside a Borhan Food Mart, a Bushwick deli at 1559 Broadway, at around 2:10 a.m. when two assailants began arguing with them, police said.

The two suspects then allegedly began striking them with a glass bottle and screwdriver before stealing their iPhones and cash, according to cops.

During the altercation the attackers made anti-gay comments, police said.

One Victim, a 36-year-old, suffered a puncture wound on his chit and a cut to his lips and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull in stable condition.

The second victim, a 28-year-old, suffered cuts to his hand and shoulder and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County also in stable condition.

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident. The department released surviellance footage Sunday of two suspectes wanted in connection with the crime. One suspect is seen wearing a red baseball hat, red shirt and sweatpants. The other is seen wearing a black t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops.
