NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two men were killed overnight after they were struck by trains in Brooklyn and Manhattan, according to officials.
At about 2:40 a.m. an unidentified man was lying on the tracks at the Avenue U and East 16th Street station in Sheepshead Bay when a southbound 2 train pulled into the station, police said.

According to authorities, the subway conductor attempted to put on the brakes but was unable to stop.
New York City's Emergency Service Unit responded to the scene where the victim was pronounced dead.
Hours earlier, police responded after a man was struck by a train at the 79th Street station of the Downtown Train 1 on the Upper West Side.
The man in his 30s jumped in front of a train in what is believed to be a suicide, according to police.

He was pronounced dead on scene, the NYPD said.
There was no crime suspected in the two incidents, officials said.
