NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The search for the missing continues in Surfside, Florida where a section of a 12-story beachfront condo complex collapsed into a pile of rubble.
Four people have been confirmed dead and more than 150 are unaccounted for following Thursday's collapse.
Among the missing is New York attorney Linda March, 58, who had moved into a penthouse apartment in the Champlain Towers just three months ago. Her ex-husband told the Daily News that she was already looking to move out because loud construction noise made it impossible for her to work from home.
Judy Spiegel, originally from Plainview, Long Island, is also unaccounted for.
Her children rushed to the scene.
"I just want to give my mom a hug and tell her I love her and I know she knows that," daughter Rachel Spiegel told CBS2. "We just want to be with our mom."
She said she had been in touch with her mother just hours before the collapse.
“She texted me and said, 'I remembered that Scarlett wanted this Disney dress,' my daughter. 'I just remembered it. I went online and they have it in a size 4 and I bought it.' So my daughter has a dress coming in the mail from my mom,” Rachel Spiegel said.
Her parents lived on the sixth floor of the collapsed section of the complex. Her father was traveling in California at the time.
The complex is home to a mix of retirees and couples with children.
A couple in their 20s from Lakewood, New Jersey are also among the missing, according to a local paper. They were visiting family at the time of the collapse.
Esty Goldberg, who lives next door to the husband and wife, told NBC 10 they left her a key to get their mail before they left for Florida two days ago.
And then the unimaginable happened.
"They are the most wonderful, nicest people around, really," Goldberg said. "It's so sad. I just hope we find them so soon."
The pair have not yet been publicly identified.
