NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Two NYPD officers were wounded during a car crash following a chase on a Bronx highway Wednesday night, authorities said.
According to officials, officers attempted to pull over the gray sedan with mismatching plates near East 177th Street when it sped off.
The officers followed the car onto the Bronx River Parkway but crashed into a highway barrier near the Deegan Expressway and Bruckner Expressway, cops said.
Both officers were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, police said. The extent of their injuries are unknown.
One person in a third vehicle also involved in the crash was taken to an area hospital, police said.
A suspect is in custody and an investigation is ongoing.
