NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An NYPD officer was shot in the chest, and a second grazed by a bullet Sunday night in Brooklyn, police said.
Officers responded to a 911 call for a man shot by his roommate inside of a building on Hawthorne Street near Flatbush Avenue in Prospect Lefferts Garden around 9:15 p.m., according to officials.

The man made the 911 call from the closet of his second floor apartment where he was hiding from the armed suspect, authorities said.
A gunman exited the apartment and opened fire at officers when they arrived on the scene, officials said.
The officers returned fire and the shooter returned to the apartment where he barricaded himself with his roommate who had been shot, and the roommate's girlfriend, according to police.
The gunman was later taken into custody after a brief standoff.
The 44-year-old man, who appeared to be emotionally disturbed and was talking to himself, was taken to a local hospital to be checked out, WABC-7 reports.
Charges against him are pending.
The 45-year-old victim was shot in both legs and taken to Kings County Hospital, where he is in stable condition. His 45-year-old girlfriend was not injured, police said.
Two weapons were recovered at the scene.
One officer was struck in his bulletproof vest but was conscious and alert.
The second suffered a "very minor" injury after being grazed in the leg, according to an NYPD spokesperson.
They were both taken to Kings County Hospital for treatment and are expected to be OK.
The NYPD has not yet identified the gunman, who had a prior arrest in 1993 for criminal possession of a weapon, PIX11 reports.
