NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two 17-year-old boys were shot on Wednesday outside a Canarsie middle school, one day after a 15-year-old was shot at a neighboring high school, police said.

The shooting happened just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of 82nd Street and Avenue J, near Isaac Bildersee Intermediate School 68.

One 17-year-old was struck in the leg and torso, and the other twice in the leg. They were taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center and NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, respectively, both in stable condition.

The circumstances that led to the shooting were not immediately clear, and police said that the investigation is ongoing.

The shooting comes 24 hours after a 15-year-old was shot outside South Shore High School—located only five blocks from Isaac Bildersee Intermediate School—as students were being dismissed on Tuesday.

The gunman in Tuesday's incident, reportedly another teen, fled the scene and the victim was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in stable condition.

These shootings are adding to a rising spike in incidents involving guns in and around New York City Schools.

Last week alone, 4 students were arrested after bringing guns into Harlem High School, Flushing High School and Curtis High School on Staten Island, and a 17-year-old was shot across the street from Staten Island’s Ralph R. McKee Career and Technical Education High School.
