NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD released images Tuesday of two men wanted for beating up a man during the violent street takeover in a quiet corner of Queens over the weekend.
The victim, a 50-year-old man who lives in the area, confronted some of the drivers as more than 100 of them took over an upscale block of single-family homes in Malba early Sunday.
The resident was beaten by at least five people during the confrontation around 12:45 a.m. at 141st Street and 11th Avenue.
They punched and kicked him repeatedly, breaking his shoulder, nose and ribs, according to authorities. He also suffered lacerations and bruising.
He was transported to New York-Presbyterian in Queens in stable condition.
The two suspects — believed to be between 18 and 24 years old — fled in a white Chevy Silverado, police said.
Officials have previously said the chaotic takeover was arranged on social media by people from elsewhere in the city.
A security guard who confronted the gang of drivers that night also had his vehicle set on fire, authorities said. The charred remains of the vehicle were removed on Monday.
Residents said they’ve had problems with out-of-control drivers in the past, but never like this.
“Half of them were masked up, the plates were masked up, just a bad bunch of guys,” said resident Larry Rusch, who witnessed the mayhem.
Councilwoman Vickie Paladino arranged for a meeting with the NYPD after police reportedly took nearly 30 minutes to respond to calls from residents.
Rusch said it was a productive meeting and that you can already see “they’re on it.”
“I already spoke to a half-dozen police. Now the city's involved with the arson. Hopefully, they catch the person who beat up my friend,” Rusch said.
In a statement, the NYPD said the 109th Precinct "covers a large geographical area, and this was a busy Saturday night."
"At the time of the incident in question, other units from the 109 were handling multiple priority jobs, including an arrest for an individual who was driving while intoxicated, transporting someone to the hospital, an assault, and a vehicle collision with injuries," the department said.
"The Chief of Patrol Borough Queens North met with Councilmember Paladino and residents on Sunday, and the NYPD will be increasing patrols in the area," the NYPD said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
